The first question should be - Is there a God?
Everyone has a god (small g) but not everyone believes in God (capital G).
The many gods that we "bow down to" are varied. To some, they are their own gods and to others; their work, wealth, pets, the sun - moon - stars, possessions such as money or things are the center of their life.
That is actually what the gods of their lives are; again with a small "g". They are the center of their lives to which they look to for security and comfort. They are the things to which they give their energy and time.
The real question is; "Is there God"; with a capital "G"? If there is no God, then why even ponder the rest?
Life without God would be something like...
"We're here; we don't know how we got here (other than the biological process,
of which we really can't explain the miracle of "why life"); we really don't understand
why we're here and after we've left - we won't care".
There are four ways to answer that question for ourselves. By the way, our answer doesn't change the reality, just our view of it. God does not come and go based on what we believe, He either "is" or "is not".
The Atheist will say "There is no God".
The Agnostic will confess "I cannot tell whether there is a God or not".
The Materialist will boast "I do not need God; I can run the universe
The Fool notes "I wish there was no God".
The Christian declares "I cannot do without God.
Without God I can neither account for the
universe around me, nor explain Jesus Christ
above me, nor understand the spiritual experience within me".
