God's Word tells us that when asked if you are a good person, most will answer "yes".
6 Most men will proclaim each his own goodness
Proverbs 20:6

The word goodness in the above verse means merciful or kind, the verse below is more to the point of our innocence (freedom from guilt or sin through being unacquainted with evil).

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:8

This is because you measure your own goodness against other people and you generally use people that have done some very bad things (Hitler etc.).  We all are quick to see the faults of others while not seeing our own faults.  When we look at our own sin we see it as minor and in today's world "everybody" has at one time or another told a lie, so we say "surely God will overlook my "little lie", after all we haven't murdered anyone.

But when we look at God's Law, His Ten Commands, we see we are not good people, but sinners deserving the judgement of God on sin (sin is breaking God's Law) which is death.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

     I.  "You shall have no other gods before Me.  Exodus 20:2
You are to put God first in your affections.  Do you love anything more than God - your money, your
job, your friends, your sports team, your family even yourself?  If so, you love the gift more than the
Giver!  If you don't love God above all else you have broken the first commandment.

II.  "You shall not make for yourself a carved image — any likeness of anything
in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under
the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your
           God, am
a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to
           the third and fourth generations
of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to
thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
  Exodus 20:3-6
The God of the universe is a Just God, one who MUST punish all sin.  Do you see God as
someone who will probably overlook your little "white" lie or will overlook the little things
you do that are wrong?  Then you are guilty of creating a god (small "g") that is an idol you
have created in your mind - a false god.  You have broken the second commandment.
The God of the universe is a Just God, one who MUST punish all sin.

III.  "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not
           hold him
guiltless who takes His name in vain.  Exodus 20:7
Have you ever used God's name as part of a swear statement.  That is called blasphemy
and you broke the third commandment when you do so.  By the way, the punishment
for blasphemy is death (as with any sin) however, God said that if His people used His name
in this manner they must be stoned to death.

IV.  "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.  Six days you shall labor and do
all your work, but the seventh day is
the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you
shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor
your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is
within your gates.
           For in
six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is
in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day
           and hallowed it.
  Exodus 20:8:11
God gave us 6 days to work and set aside one day a week to worship Him.  The punishment
for not keeping the Sabbath is death.  Have you set one day aside to worship your maker?
If not, you have broken the fourth commandment.

"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land
which the Lord your God is giving you.
  Exodus 20:12
Have you always honored your father and mother in a way that is pleasing to God?  If not
you have broken the fifth commandment.

VI. "You shall not murder.  Exodus 20:13
You may well say, "but I haven't murdered anyone"!  But God says that if you hate someone
that is the same as murder in your heart and that you are guilty of breaking the sixth commandment.

VII.  "You shall not commit adultery.  Exodus 20:14
Who of us can say we are pure of heart when Jesus said we violate this command in spirit
when we lust after another person.  The Scriptures say that the impure (those who are not
pure in heart), the immoral (fornicators - those who have sex before marriage) and adulterers
will not enter the Kingdom of God.  If you have done any of this you are guilty of breaking
the seventh commandment which carries the death penality.

VIII.  "You shall not steal.  Exodus 20:15
Have you ever taken anything that doesn't belong to you?  If so, you are a thief.  It doesn't
matter if the item was of little or much value, you are still guilty of breaking the eigth

IX.  "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.  Exodus 20:16
Have you ever told a fib, a "white lie", a half-truth, or an exaggeration?  Then you are a lier
and have broken the ninth commandment.

     X.  "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's
wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey,
            nor anything that is
your neighbor's."  Exodus 20:17
This simply means that we are not to desire things that belong to others.  Who of us can
truely say we haven't wished for something that belongs to someone else?  Then we have
            broken the tenth commandment.

So... "ARE YOU A GOOD PERSON" according to God's Holy Law?

Now be honest with yourself for you only have this life to get it right.

Have you ever told a lie, have you ever taken something that wasn't yours, have you ever used God's name in vain or have you ever lusted after another person?

If you have, then you are a liar..., a thief..., a blasphemer... and an adulterer.  If you were to die tonight and have to face God's judgement using His Law as your measurement, where would you spend eternity?  God, being a just judge must punish your sin!  The soul who sins shall die (Ezekiel 18:20).

"Oh but I've done so many "good works" you protest.  Your so called "good works" don't balance the scales of God's justice.  You must be found GUILTY and your sin debt must be paid.  But God has provided a way for "Someone" to pay for your sin debt and that "Someone" is God's Son Jesus.

God loves you and provided a way for YOUR sin debt to be paid (Isaiah 53:6).  This is the gift of salvation.

Jesus Christ died in YOUR place... and received YOUR judgement... for YOUR sin!  See John 3:16, Hebrews 7:25 and John 1:12.

But as with all gifts, you must receive it in order to have it.  If you reject God's gift of salvation then you will die in all your sins and the full fury of God's judgement will fall on you for your sin for all of eternity.

There will be NO SALVATION... NO SECOND CHANCE!

Only the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross
pays for our sin debt!!

You must obey the command of God to confess your sins and repent (1 John 1:9; Luke 13:3).
Then you must put your trust in Jesus Christ, believe and be baptised (Mark 16:16).
You must be born again (John 3:7).

Your alternative is to have the full fury of God's Law unleased on you on Judgement Day.  There is NO SECOND CHANCE, the moment you die your eternal fate is sealed!

So you may say "this sounds like I should think about this, but I need a day or two before I decide".

Receive Jesus Christ NOW and put your trust in God's plan for your redemption
before it is too late and you die with your sin debt unpaid and spend eternity in hell!

Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
Matthew 22:37-40  NKJV
