Jesus said to him,
"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
After our study of Man's Problem we must agree that because of sin, we have a problem and are in need of some Good News. The word Gospel means good news.
What is the Gospel?
The price for our sin has been paid by Jesus' suffering and death on the cross!
He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:10 NKJV (The word propitiation means to satisfy)
Do you not know... you are not your own?
For you were bought at a price;
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV
His resurrection from the dead, on the third day, as foretold and confirmed, in the Bible, confirms
God the Father's acceptance of Christ's sacrifice as full payment for our sin!
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
1 Corinthians 15:3 NKJV
God imputed (placed) our sin on Jesus Christ and punished him on the cross for our sin. Thereby Jesus Christ redemmed us from our sin. The price for our sin has been paid!
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 NKJV
Jesus came into the world to save sinners. That was His purpose.
This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world
to save sinners,
1 Timothy 1:15 NKJV
Now that is Good News!
The Role of Grace and Good Works
Many people believe and most religions teach that we have to "do good" to earn eternal salvation. Thus people think that God grades on a scale. That is, if the good they do is more than the bad they do during their lives, then the scales of God's justice will weight in their favor and they might be saved.
This is not the message of the Bible and leads people to believe they can somehow earn their salvation "through" good works.
We can't earn our eternal salvation through good works.
For by grace you have been saved through faith,
and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
Ephesians 2:8 NKJV
Good works are part of God's Plan but not the way to eternal life, as Ephesians 2:10 continues on saying "for" good works. In other words, God does expect us to do good works, just not for our salvation.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared
beforehand that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10 NKJV
There is only one way to the Father!
God is clear, there is only one way to eternal life and that way is through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except
John 14:6 NKJV
Jesus is fully God and fully man. See more about this doctrine (teaching) in the Attributes of God page, on the God is Trinity attribute.
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not
consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form
of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a
man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the
Philippians 2:5-8 NKJV
At the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus as Lord.
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above
every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of
those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV
Some are given the grace to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior near the end of their earthly life, maybe near their last breath.
But do not wait until the end; you may never get that "one last breath". Consider the thief on the cross who in his dying moments accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Then one of the cri minals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, "If You are the Christ,
save Yourself and us." But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even
fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we
receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong." Then he said to
Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." And Jesus said to him,
"Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."
Luke 23:39-43 NKJV
Now that is being saved by the skin of your teeth.
Do not say to yourself, "I'll get around to this another day".
Seek the Lord while He may be found
John MacArthur comments; "Such true seeking in faith is accompanied by repentance, which is described as forsaking ways and thoughts and turning from sinful living to the Lord. A sinner must come, believing in God, recognizing his sin and desiring forgiveness and deliverance from that sin. At the same time he must recognize his own inability to be righteous or to satisfy God and cast himself on God's mercy. It is then the he receives a complete pardon. His sin has been covered by the substitution of the Messiah in his place.
Some wait to seek God until it is too late.
Then you returned and wept before the Lord, but the Lord would not listen to your voice nor
give ear to you.
And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him
1 Samuel 28:6
They cried out, but there was none to save; even to the Lord, but He did not answer them.
Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently, but they will
not find me.
When God, in His grace, brings the message of His gospel to you and you respond with indifference and mockery, you increase your guilt. You bring the wrath of God's mockery and indifference upon yourself. God says how He will respond to those who mocked Him, in the day of judgment.
I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, when your terror
comes like a storm, and your destruction comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish
come upon you.
God will withdraw His invitation to sinners because they have rejected Him. See Romans 1:24-28 for more on the ultimate punishment of God giving a people up to the result of their wickedness. Does this look anything like our world today?
But to those who listen and believe what God is saying through His Word The Bible, they will dwell safely.
But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and "will be secure, without fear of evil."
We must be born again to see the kingdom of God.
Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he
cannot see the kingdom of God."
John 3:3 NKJV

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
